Driftwood Gifts

I often find bits of driftwood on the beach when I’m sea swimming, or fallen branches when I’m walking in the woods. I am inspired to use these pieces by cutting discs from the wood to create gifts.

Using pyrography, all of my designs are burnt by hand without the use of templates or standardised stencils. I use a portable Dremel which is powered using Butane so that I can work outdoors on the beach, or in the woods.

Depending on the purpose I can make these wooden gifts into keyrings, fridge magnets, home decor, tree decorations and even an eco alternative to medals using ribbon made from recycled plastic bottles. (A lovely way to celebrate a full moon swim with a fellow wild swimmer for example!).

Creating these gifts is something I greatly enjoy and find SO therapeutic! To work with natural materials and create something that celebrates wild places is to show gratitude for all that it bestows upon us.
